Entire Apartment Building Displaced, 1 Injured In Stratford Fire

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, authorities said.

STRATFORD, CT — An entire apartment building was displaced, with one resident injured, after a fire Saturday in Stratford, according to authorities.

Emergency personnel responded around 7:40 a.m. to the 1100 block of Main Street, where they found that the building was not fully evacuated, the fire spanned multiple apartments and there were heavy smoke conditions throughout the structure, authorities said.

One resident was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for minor injuries and the American Red Cross was called to assist displaced residents, according to authorities, who said Mayor Laura Hoydick was also at the scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, authorities said.

“The Stratford Fire Department would like to remind our residents to have working smoke detectors and have and regularly practice a safe fire exiting plan in the event of fire,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

The response included 22 Stratford firefighters plus on-scene assistance from the Bridgeport Fire Department, according to authorities.
