Guided Tours Of Stratford Point & Lighthouse Announced

Guided tours of Stratford Point and Stratford Point Lighthouse will take place this fall in support of the America250-Stratford Committee.

STRATFORD, CT — Mayor Laura R. Hoydick and the America250-Stratford Committee, with the support of Stratford’s Recreation Department, launched a schedule of guided tours this fall of Stratford Point and Stratford Point Lighthouse.

The tour costs $10 per person, which will go toward Stratford’s America250-Stratford Committee. The committee will be sponsoring a number of activities in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in learning about Stratford Point and Stratford Point Lighthouse,” Hoydick said. “They are a spectacular part of our Town, rich in history, wildlife, and beautiful views. It is also a fun way to kick off fundraising to support our America250-Stratford celebrations. Thanks to Town Historian Dave Wright, our Recreation Department, Stratford’s America250-Stratford Committee, and Theodore Judson – Stratford's longest serving lighthouse keeper, for collaborating to make these tours available to the public.”

From the description of the tours: Theodore Judson, Stratford's longest serving lighthouse keeper, invites you to join him on a tour of Stratford Point and the Stratford Point Lighthouse. Theodore and Kate Judson will be opening their home and lighthouse for you to tour and inspect.

Mr. Judson will be describing the history of Stratford Point dating back to the 1600s as well as his own personal experiences at the lighthouse. Additionally, Mr. Judson will lead you along the shoreline at Stratford Point describing points of interest, revelry, and history.
