Chimney Fire Extinguished In Stratford: Officials
Officials said the residents were alerted by a working smoke detector and safely evacuated the house.
STRATFORD, CT — Firefighters extinguished a chimney fire Thursday night in Stratford, according to officials.
Crews responded to a report of a structure fire on Nichols Avenue.
The fire spread to the exterior of the structure with limited damage, according to officials.

“The occupants were alerted by a working smoke detector and were able to safely exit the residence to await the arrival of the Fire Department,” officials wrote in a post on the Stratford Fire Department’s Facebook page. “The Stratford Fire Department would like to remind its residents to regularly test smoke detectors, practice an exit plan with families and have chimneys and fireplaces inspected and maintained regularly.”
The Stratford Fire Marshal was at the scene investigating on Thursday night.
