Juvenile Driving Stolen Car, Stratford Passenger Arrested After Chase In Norwalk: Police
Police said the vehicle nearly struck a police cruiser and proceeded to drive into oncoming traffic before officers stopped it.
STRATFORD, CT — A juvenile driver accused of driving erratically in a stolen vehicle and a 19-year-old Stratford passenger were arrested Sunday in Norwalk, according to Norwalk police.
In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said officers spotted a stolen vehicle traveling on the Stroffolino Bridge.
Due to the high volume of traffic and pedestrians in the area, officers tried to safely contain the vehicle to prevent a potential public safety hazard, Evarts said.

The driver, who was later identified as a juvenile, began driving erratically and abruptly reversed the vehicle in a reckless manner, nearly striking a police cruiser, and drove into oncoming traffic, according to Evarts.
Police were able to make controlled contact with the vehicle, rendering it inoperable and preventing further danger to the public, Evarts said.

Officers arrested the juvenile driver and a passenger, Nevaeh Williams, 19, of Stratford, after they fled from the vehicle on foot and entered Veterans Park, according to Evarts.
The juvenile was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering, reckless driving and engaging police in pursuit.
Williams was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and interfering with an officer.
The juvenile and Williams were both released on promises to appear in court next month, according to Evarts.
"The swift and decisive actions of Norwalk police officers helped prevent injury and ensured the safety of the community during this dangerous incident," Evarts said in a news release.
