Milford and Stratford Residents Join Forces to Oppose Changes to Expansion of I-95

Opponents of the expansion state the changes would impact local businesses.

Residents from Milford and Stratford have come together along with small business owner to oppose expansion of I-95 Interchange 33, the Milford Mirror reports.

The effort is being led by former Milford state house speaker James Amman and Stratford Action for the Environment’s Charles Perez. The opposition to the expansion is that plan could hurt local businesses by creating alternative routes so drivers would avoid Main Street in Stratford and part of U.S. 1/Bridgeport Avenue in Milford. The second problem would be that construction could disrupt Raymark waste from the groundwater.

According to the paper, Amman said the way the way the local traffic is right now is critical to maintaining visibility and encourage patronage for the local businesses. As for Stratford, the changes would mean that drivers would no longer use Exit 32 and the businesses that benefit from the traffic would lose out.
