More Time For Talks On Stratford Shakespeare Theatre Proposal
Stratford Town Council discussing Shakespeare Theatre proposal April 11.

STRATFORD--To be, or not to be? That is the question the Stratford Stage Group, LLC, and Town Council are set to discuss on April 11.
The group is seeking to secure $125K in matching grant funds to renovate the Shakespeare Theatre off of Elm Street, adding an inn and restaurant to the property, The Stratford Star reports.
Todd Levine, a historian with the State Historic Preservation Office, told The Star that the Group needs control of the theater site in order to secure the $125K Good To Great matching grant issued by the state Department of Economic and Community Development.

The proposal has been in the works since March 2015. Opponents are concerned with the addition of an inn and restaurant to the property, although the Stratford Stage Group says it will make the site financially viable.
