New Cannabis Facility Celebrates Opening In Stratford

Officials celebrated the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the new 40,000-square foot facility.

STRATFORD, CT — Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of a new cannabis facility in Stratford.

The event included a tour of the Borealis Cannabis by Shangri-La facility at 305 Hathaway Drive in Stratford.

Borealis Cannabis by Shangri-La is a new 40,000-square foot cultivation and production facility.

“With $34 million already invested, this state-of-the-art facility allows for cultivation and manufacturing of cannabis, and will employ upwards of 80 new jobs—marking a new era of innovation and excellence in Connecticut's cannabis industry,” Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick wrote in a post on Facebook. “Thank you to Shangri-La for your investment in Stratford, it was great to hear the compliments you gave Town staff regarding their assistance and guidance through the development process. We are stronger when we work together and this brand-new facility is evident of that.

“Congratulations to co-owners/brothers Nevil and Kepal Patel, partner Jocelyn Cerda, and staff! Let us wish them much success!”

Items produced at the Stratford facility will be sold throughout Connecticut and nationally, according to officials.
