Obituary: Augustin 'Gus' Petrus, 68

Augustin "Gus" Petrus age 68 of Stratford, the beloved husband of Maria Dudik Petrus, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2013 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Gus was born on March 30, 1945 in Vysna Mysla, Czechoslovakia and was the son of the late Margita Palencarova. Gus was employed as an electrician for Clairol of Stamford, Remington Arms and Avco-Lycoming. He was a member of Oronoque Country Club and loved golfing and gardening.

In addition to his cherished wife Maria, he is survived by their daughter Michelle Baronowski and husband Jon of Wilton and grandchildren Mia, Robbie, and Elsa. He is also survived by his daughter Darina Scavnicka and husband Eugen of Slovakia, and grandchildren Tomas and David. He is survived by two sisters, Marta Golias and husband Frank of Slovakia and Irene Hornak and husband Vinco of Slovakia and several nieces and nephews. Gus was also predeceased by his brother Frank and sister Margita.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 25, at 10 a.m. directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main St., Stratford on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
