Obituary: Clarence Duprey, Former Stratford Firefighter, 79

Mr. Duprey also served in the Marines and coached basketball and baseball locally.

Clarence A. Duprey, age 79, of Stratford, the beloved husband of Estelle St. Marie Duprey passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2013 in Connecticut Hospice with his loving family by his side.

Clarence was born on Nov. 26, 1933 in Orono, Maine and was the son of the late William and Anne Mary Babbin Duprey.

Clarence was a Stratford firefighter for the town of Stratford for 20 years and was a U.S. Marine Korean Conflict veteran. He coached basketball teams at the Sterling House, little league baseball and the Holy Name of Jesus Cardinals.

In addition to his beloved wife Estelle of 52 years, Clarence is also survived by two sons Michael Duprey and wife Kim of Stratford and Dwayne Duprey and wife Gina of Beckett, Mass., three daughters, Yvonne Evans and husband David of Shelton, Jeanette Schiffer and husband Donald of Shelton and Danielle Duprey of Waterbury, seven grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Roger Duprey and wife Sue of Maine, one sister, Laurine Grant of Vermont and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one sister Florence Rogers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. James Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Lynch.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main St., Stratford. Those who so desire may contribute to: Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, Conn., 06405 in memory of Clarence.
