Obituary: Daphne Blanche Orr (Wint), 90, of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Daphne Blanche Orr (Wint), was born November 17, 1930 in Resource, Manchester, Jamaica.

She died peacefully at home on February 21, 2021 surrounded by her husband and children. Daphne was the daughter of the late Hubert and Daisy Maud Wint of May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica.

Daphne married Ephraim Alexander Orr on August 8, 1959. Their union lasted for 61 plus years. Daphne was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed for her kindness and compassion.

She emigrated to the United States in 1978 and worked tirelessly to bring her entire family to the U.S. in 1980. Daphne lived in Greenwich, CT with her family until she relocated to Stratford, CT where she lived until her passing.

Over the years, Daphne has been a skilled seamstress, an Administrative Assistant, A CNA and a Daycare owner. Whatever work she did, it was done with great care, attention to detail and compassion. She also loved to write and we will treasure the words she has left us.

Daphne was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 21, 1974 and lived a life in faithful service to her God, Jehovah, until her passing. She referred to Jehovah as her tower of strength and trusted in him and relied on him all her life.

To cherish her memory, Daphne leaves her husband, Ephraim Alexander OrrSix children: Paulette Fullerton, Allan Orr and his wife Myra, Bobbette Blake and her husband Desmond, Bobby Orr and his wife Carolyn, Marcia Orr, and Winston Orr and his wife Stacy.

Eight grandchildren: Paul Lodge, Shanique Orr and her husband Ricky, Alana Orr, Spencer Blake, Tyra Orr, Hannah DiMichele and her husband Nico, Brendan Orr and Stephen Blake.

Four great-grandchildren: Chanell Grant, O’Brien Allen, Alan Townsend and Skylar Grady.

Siblings: Mavis Brown, Joseph Wint, Harold Wint and his wife Jascinth, Hubert Wint and his wife Yvonne and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Daphne was predeceased by her siblings: Victor Myers, Benjie Wint, Myrtle Heslop, Rupert Wint, David Wint, and Blossom Wint.

A service in remembrance of Daphne will be held on Saturday, March 20th, at 3:00. The Zoom information is available upon request.
