Obituary: Irene Joan Cullen, 94, of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Irene Joan Cullen passed away in her Stratford residence at the age of 94 on February 16, 2022.

She was the widow of her beloved husband of 58 years, John F. Cullen.

Irene was born in Bridgeport to the late Andrew and Agnes (Bafia) Zelinsky.

She had worked for Universal Precision Manufacturing for many years and was part of the Teamsters Union 191.

Irene loved traveling with her husband, John. Every year, Irene and John hosted the family Christmas Eve gathering with all the nieces and nephews, creating memories that her family will always cherish.

Surviving her are one sister, Frances Saresky of Shelton, CT, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Zelinsky, Edward Zelinsky, and Vincent Zelinsky, and four sisters, Helen Marseglia, Mae Liscinsky, Agnes Doyle, and Margaret Zaleski Skandera.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.

Friends may call the morning of the funeral from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Irene’s memory to Our Lady of Grace Church Memorial Fund, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
