Obituary: Marion Rosalie Sebens (nee Gombar), 98, of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Marion Rosalie Sebens (nee Gombar), 98, of Stratford, CT passed away peacefully on December 18th, 2021 in the care of Jewish Senior Services, Bridgeport, CT.

Along with her beloved husband Carl, she is preceded in death by her sister Rosalie and brother William “Bill” Gombar and his wife Dorothy. Marion is survived and lovingly remembered by by her sons, Kenneth P. Sebens and his wife, Emily Carrington, of WA, and Clifford P. Sebens and Virginia Lux, of VA, grandchildren: Alison, Charles and Nikolas, great-grandchildren Isabel, Alden and Ethan and nieces and nephews Deborah and Michael Berman of Bridgeport, and their children Rebecca and Jason, as well as many dear friends.

Marion was born on November 21, 1923 in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of Julius and Rose (Ocko) Gombar. She attended Harding High School, and worked at the Arcade Dress Shop in Accounting.

She met her husband Carl, a WWII Vet and electrical engineer with General Electric in Bridgeport and they settled in Stratford on Second Hill Lane.

Marion spent much of her adult life as a volunteer with Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford Schools, The Baldwin Center, and along with her dear friend Joan Weldon, at the Bridgeport Hospital where her cheery presence and demeanor put patients at ease and maybe even got an occasional smile, over 30 years of service.

Marion wanted to thank the Pruzinsky, Bicocchi, Weldon, Skowronski, and Nieves families for all their love and support. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford.

Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Please no flowers.
