Obituary: William J. Green, 96, of Lordship
Bill, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, served many years as a Lieutenant for the Fire Department at Sikorsky Aircraft.

STRATFORD, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) William J. Green, age 96, of Lordship, beloved husband of the late Grace Heisler Green, passed away on September 23, 2021, in his home.
Bill was born in Derby on May 17, 1925, to the late Clarence and Tessie (Martinka) Green and had been a longtime area resident.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII and retired after 42 years of service as a Lieutenant on the Fire Department at Sikorsky Aircraft.
Bill was a former Cub Scout leader for Pack #74 and was Captain of the Lordship Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Football Giants.
Survivors include his devoted sons, William Green and his wife Sally of Shelton and Jeffrey Green and his wife Michelle of Stratford, a cherished granddaughter, Amanda Green of Shelton, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his beloved wife of 66 years, and his parents, Bill was pre-deceased by his daughter, Kimberly Grace Green, brothers, Clarence, Irving, and Robert, and sister, Mildred Frey.
In addition the family would like to extend special thanks to Bill’s caretaker Jadwiga Powe for her dedicated service and love for Bill over the past 3 years.
Friends may visit with his family on Tuesday, September 28th from 4-8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Masks are required, as visitors walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 29th at 10AM meeting directly at Lordship Community Church 179 Prospect Drive with the Rev Jeff Lukens officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
