Old Trash Can Pickup Starts Soon In Stratford: What To Know
Officials are reminding residents that any old, unwanted trash cans will be picked up by sanitation on two dates this month.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Department of Public Works is reminding residents who are a part of the town refuse collection program and received the new trash and recycling carts that sanitation will pick up any old, unwanted trash cans on Saturday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 26.
The old cans should be placed out like a regular refuse collection by 6 a.m. on the 12th or the 26th. Public Works recommends keeping old cans that are intact and usable for leaf and lawn cleanup.
If residents are unable to place their old cans out for pickup on those dates, they may drop them off at the Transfer Station, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., or on Saturdays between 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

“Additionally, Public Works reminds residents that they should NOT place any trash or recycling alongside or outside of the new carts on their collection day,” officials wrote in a news release. “Anything outside of the carts will NOT be picked up by Sanitation, and carts should not have overflow in order for the lid to be properly closed when placed out for collection.”
