STRATFORD, CT — Two women were arrested on prostitution charges and more than $10,000 was seized after police executed a search warrant at a spa in Stratford on Thursday, according to officials.

The Stratford Police Department’s Narcotics, Vice and Intelligence Unit recently “conducted an investigation into the activities” at The Garden Spa at 1804 Barnum Avenue in Stratford, according to Capt. Jerry Pinto.

As a result, Pinto said a search warrant was executed at The Garden Spa on Aug. 29.

A 62-year-old woman and a 61-year-old woman were both taken to Stratford Police headquarters and charged with prostitution.

Both women were released after posting $10,000 bonds with court dates of Sept. 12.

Pinto said $10,223 in cash, cell phones and assorted financial documents were seized as evidence.

“The Stratford Health Department has issued a Cease-and-Desist Order which has been duly posted on the entry door of the establishment,” Pinto wrote in a news release.
