Road Reopens After Repair Project In Stratford
Officials said the reopening of the road in just over four months represents a "remarkable accomplishment."
STRATFORD, CT — State and local officials announced that Route 113 (Burma Road) officially reopened Friday, Oct. 10 after being closed for several months due to a sinkhole.
“What could have been a year-long project was completed in just over four months — a remarkable accomplishment given the severity of the sinkhole and the complexity of the work required,” reads a post on Mayor Laura Hoydick’s Facebook page. “Our deepest gratitude goes to the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the contractors, engineers, and designers who worked diligently and efficiently to restore this vital roadway.
“We also extend our sincere thanks to our state legislators, local officials, and everyone who advocated to make this possible. Importantly, this work comes at no cost to the Town of Stratford, as Route 113 is a state road.
