Stratford Arts Commission Chairman Ed Goodrich is on the hunt for local artisans, musicians, artists and the like for what will be a weekly get-together on the Shakespeare Theatre grounds he's calling "Shakespeare Saturdays."
So far the only solid commitment is from Written Words Bookstore of Shelton, which will sell books out of a tent, Goodrich says.
"We're looking for people that sell art, crafts," he told Stratford Patch Wednesday over coffee at the local Starbucks.
"Shakespeare Saturdays" will start June 1 and continue every week until Festival! Stratford kicks off July 31.
"It's going to be add-on as we go," says Goodrich. The day will start at noon and go till dusk, he says.

Goodrich hopes to display Shakespeare Theatre artifacts -- most recently stored at the John Benjamin House, the mansion which sits at the entrance to the theatre grounds -- at the Saturday gatherings.
The Arts Commission chairman said the artifacts, which were the focus of an exhibition at the Fairfield Museum and History Center in 2011, had to be removed from the mansion and placed into storage because of the decrepit condition of the building.
Last November the town lost out on a $7,500 grant approved for work on the John Benjamin House, also dubbed Stratford's "White House." Goodrich said Wednesday that the commission is paying to keep the items in storage.
