Hoydick asks all locally owned, independent businesses to participate in the initiative.
“The character of our community is defined by its small businesses, which reflect the culture and identity of the local area,” Hoydick said. “By supporting them, you help maintain the distinctiveness of our neighborhoods, and more of your money stays within our community.”
Conner said, “We are calling on all local businesses to join us in making Shop Small Stratford a powerful movement for the community. Together, we can create a holiday season that highlights the unique value and charm of Stratford’s small businesses. Local businesses are the backbone of Stratford, and with everyone’s support, we can make this the most impactful season yet.”
The annual event capitalizes on Small Business Saturday, which is nationally sponsored by American Express. According to the Small Business Administration, projected spending among U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday reached an estimated $17.9 billion, according to a 2022 survey commissioned by American Express.
