Sinkhole Shuts Down Road In Stratford

A portion of the road is closed due to a sinkhole, according to officials.

STRATFORD, CT — A sinkhole has shut down part of Route 113 adjacent to Sikorsky Airport and the Stewart McKinney National Wildlife Refuge, according to State Rep. Joe Gresko.

Gresko said in a post on Facebook that Stratford police made the discovery around 3 p.m. during the ongoing paving project through Lordship.

“The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is trying to figure out how to address the issue long-term,” Gresko wrote in the post. “The CTDOT's engineering staff will take tidal influences into account as they work on a plan.”
