St. Mark Elementary School Students Make 'Hero Quilt' to Honor 9/11 Sacrifices
The quilt was pieced together in the shape of the American flag, not on permanent display in Stratford Headquarters.

From the Town of Stratford:
Wednesday, May 4 was International Firefighters Day, a day where the world’s communities recognize the honor and sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities and environment are as safe as possible. It is also a day that firefighters, current and past, can be thanked for their contributions and to remember firefighters who have died in the line of duty serving their communities.
In honor of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the life loss sustained by the firefighters of the Fire Department of the City of New York, students at St. Mark Elementary School in Stratford made a “Hero Quilt”. Each student in grades K-8 designed a red or white square cloth with a personal thank-you note to a firefighter. The fabric was pieced together to make a quilt in the shape of the American flag. The stars on the flag represent the preschoolers.
