Stratford 4th Of July Fireworks 2024 Details Announced

Officials announce parking and traffic patterns that will be in effect for the fireworks display.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford’s annual Independence Day Fireworks display will be held Tuesday, July 2 at Short Beach, Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced.

The display will begin at sundown, approximately 9 p.m. The rain date will be Friday, July 5. The Stratford Fireworks are sponsored by IBEW Local 488.

Parking will be available at Short Beach Park. After 4 p.m., you must have a Stratford resident sticker to enter Short Beach Park. If you are a Stratford resident and do not have a current Stratford resident parking sticker, there is still time to get one (visit here). Overflow parking will be available at the Army Engine lot, just north of the Atlantic Aviation hangers.

  • All traffic exiting the Army Engine lot will be directed north on Main Street.
  • Vehicles exiting Short Beach Park will be directed to use both lanes of Dorne Drive to exit the parking lot. NO TRAFFIC WILL GO NORTH onto Stratford Road/ Main Street.
  • The north or right lane (blue arrow) will be directed up to Stratford Road then left onto Stratford Road, then right on to Prospect Drive, then left on Oak Bluff and finally turn right on Lordship Boulevard.
  • The south or left lane (red arrow) will be directed to turn left on Short Beach Road. Right on Lighthouse Avenue. Right on Prospect Drive, left on Stratford Road. Straight on Lordship Boulevard in the EASTBOUND lane of Lordship Boulevard.
  • Residents will be allowed to enter Lordship until the start of the fireworks. At the end of the event, Lordship Boulevard will be closed to eastbound traffic from Access Road to Oak Bluff Avenue until traffic flow returns to normal.

Important Reminders

  • Lordship residents, there may be some delays driving into Lordship after the fireworks show ends and until traffic exiting Short Beach Park returns to normal. It is strongly advised that Lordship residents and anyone looking to come into Lordship plan accordingly. Road closures are anticipated to last from 8:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on July 2 (July 5 rain date).
  • Golf carts are not permitted at Short Beach Park after 4 p.m. For more information, visit here.
  • Pets are not allowed on Town beaches, May through October.
  • Bicycles must be walked through beach property.
  • The wearing of full-face masks, such as ski masks, is prohibited.
