After a recent controversial town meeting, Councilwoman Shake, who has represented District 2 for two terms on the Town Council, was politically gerrymandered to District 7 in Stratford. Just a few days later, on Friday, June 16, 2023, she filed to run in her new home district, District 7, to continue building a Stratford where everyone can see their tax dollars hard at work.
“In just ten days,” she added, “our campaign has raised over ten thousand dollars. This is a clear message that we need trusted local leadership that brings our community together. I am that candidate who can work across the aisle to ensure that Stratford residents have an enhanced quality of life and access to good town services—just look at my record.”

In the final ten days of the second financial quarter, which covers April 1st through June 30th, Shake raised a total of $10,505 from 127 individual contributors, with 74 from the town of Stratford.
“Councilwoman Shake is the type of leader we need on the Town Council,” added Andrea Corcoran, Chairwoman for Stratford Board of Education and District 7 resident. “Over the past four years, she has shown her tenacity, responsiveness and attention to detail to solve the issues of our community–especially the needs of our children. It is so refreshing to have this type of leadership that brings people together—no matter their political ideology— in a time when politics is so divisive.”
In just two terms, Councilwoman Shake has accomplished a number of victories benefitting her district and all residents of Stratford.
- In 2023, as the Council Minority Leader, she advocated on behalf of our children and public education for increased funding for Stratford Public Schools and lobbied the Mayor and Town Leadership to allocate an additional $1M in funding for the school district.
- As Chairwoman of the Longbrook Park Commission, Shake addressed the historical issues by working together with the Office of Public Safety to install video surveillance, increase police patrols and identify aging infrastructure projects and repairs. Moreover, Shake has remained responsive to those who want to see Stratford greenspaces flourish with the installation of the first full native pollinator garden in a town park and protecting old growth trees through conservation.
- In addition to serving on the Town Council over her last 2 terms she also sits on the Town Of Stratford’s Public Works Committee, Building Needs Committee, Pension Board, Longbrook Park Commission (Chairwoman), Boothe Park Commission, Ordinance Committee and is a member of the WPCA.
- Outside Council Chambers, Shake is a full-time nurse and proud AFSCME Unit 23 Union member working tirelessly on statewide efforts to protect residents’ public health.
