Occupation:
I am a teacher with 25 years of experience.
Family:
Yes, I have been married to my husband Keith for 20 years. We have two daughters: Paige, 18, a college freshman, and Taylor, 16, a junior in high school.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Yes, I am currently serving the final year of my four-year term on the Stratford Board of Education.
Why are you seeking this office?
I am running for Town Council in District 7 to continue serving Stratford and to ensure our community remains strong for families, seniors, and future generations. On the Board of Education, I have helped strengthen curriculum, developed Stratford’s Strategic Operating Plan, and overseen the district’s multimillion-dollar operating budget across four cycles. For the last two years, I’ve sat in the minority, but I’ve never stopped speaking up and being a strong voice for teachers, students, and families. I want to continue the work of advocating for accountability, transparency, and collaboration while bringing my experience as an educator and BOE member to the Town Council.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The most pressing issue facing my constituents is ensuring Stratford’s tax dollars are managed responsibly while protecting the schools and services that our families depend on. I will bring my experience with budgets and strategic planning to the Town Council to advocate for long-term financial solutions that strike a balance between fiscal responsibility and community needs.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Experience. I have served in elected office and have a proven track record of overseeing budgets, setting policy, and advocating for the residents of Stratford. I have demonstrated that I will stand up for everyone in the community — listening, advocating, and representing all voices. I will continue to bring that same commitment and accountability to District 7.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I will continue to prioritize strong schools, responsible financial planning, and investments in our neighborhoods, parks, and community resources. Stratford faces important budget decisions in the years ahead, and I am committed to working collaboratively with town leaders while keeping the voices and concerns of all residents at the center of every decision.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
• Led successful curriculum work that benefits all Stratford students.
• Advocated for teachers, students, and families, lifting voices even while in the minority.
• Helped create Stratford School’s Strategic Operating Plan, ensuring accountability and a clear roadmap for the district.
• Oversaw the district’s multimillion-dollar operating budget over four cycles, working to limit disruptions to staff and services.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
That we have two ears and one mouth for a reason — to listen twice as much as we speak. I carry that with me in public service, making it a priority to truly hear the concerns of residents before taking action.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
As an educator, a mother, and a member of the Board of Education, I know the importance of strong schools, responsible budgeting, and safe, vibrant neighborhoods. I will always listen, advocate, and treat residents with respect. In District 7, I am ready to bring my proven experience, independent voice, and commitment to the people directly to the Town Council.
