Stratford Election Results 2023: Projected Winners In Council Races
Stratford residents have cast their votes in the 2023 municipal election in a number of key races.

STRATFORD, CT — The narrow 6-4 majority on the Town Council is now apparently even at 5-5 following Tuesday’s municipal election, with Democrats picking up a seat.
Republicans Thomas "Bryan" O'Connor, Kerry L. Whitham, Carl Glad, Alan Llewelyn and Paul Aurelia won their district races, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of the State’s Office.
Democrats Christopher Green, Alvin O'Neal, Rene M Gibson, Anthony Afriyie, and Kaitlyn Shake won their respective races, according to unofficial results.

Shake, who was moved from the 2nd District to the 7th District in a controversial redistricting plan, defeated Republican incumbent Jean-Marie Sutton by a vote of 798 to 576.
Green defeated Republican Gavin B. Forrester III in the 2nd District by a vote of 648 to 413.

In the closest race of the night, Whitham edged Democrat Phil Young in the 6th District by an unofficial vote of 485 to 474.
(Original post) STRATFORD, CT — The polls have closed in Stratford and the votes are being counted to determine the winners of key races, including seats on the Town Council, Board of Education, Planning and Zoning and more.

Town Council
The Town Council district races are as follows: 1st District) Rachel S. Rusnak, Democrat, and Thomas “Bryan” O’Connor, Republican; 2nd District) Christopher H. Green, Democrat, and Gavin B. Forrester III, Republican; 3rd District) Alvin O’Neal, Democrat, and Joseph “Joe” Bertone, Republican; 4th District) Rene M. Gibson, Democrat, and Edward J. Scinto, Republican; 5th District) Anthony Afriyie, Democrat, and Rafael Irizarry, Republican; 6th District) Phil Young, Democrat, and Kerry L. Whitham, Republican; 7th District) Kaitlyn Shake, Democrat, and Jean-Marie Sutton, Republican; 8th District) Carl A. Glad, Republican (unopposed); 9th District) Mark Juliano, Democrat, and Alan D. Llewelyn, Republican; 10th District) Kathleen Callahan, Democrat, and Paul T. Aurelia, Republican.
Other races
For the Board of Education, residents will vote for up to three candidates. The Democratic candidates are: Christopher J. Cormier, Jill D’Angelo-Powers, and Celeste D. Burnett. The Republican candidates are: Alec F. Voccola, Kim Murphy, and William “Bill” O’Brien Jr.
For the Planning Commission, in the 1st and 2nd Districts, Joseph Gerics is the Democratic candidate and Edward “Ed” Kingston is the Republican. For the 3rd and 4th District, Maxwell “Max” Dulin is the Democratic candidate and Edward J. Scinto is the Republican.
For the Zoning Commission, the candidates in the 1st and 2nd Districts are Democrat Linda Manos and Republican Richard F. Fredette. In the 3rd and 4th Districts, the candidates are Democrat JF Ewald Joseph and Republican Casimir “Caz” Mizera.
For Zoning Board of Appeals, to fill a vacancy for two years in the 1st and 2nd District, Paula Sweeley is the Democratic candidate and Shawn Kelemen is the Republican. In the 7th and 8th Districts, Republican Christopher E. Silhavey is unopposed. In the 9th and 10th Districts, Karen Tracy is the Democratic candidate and Michael P. Carroll is the Republican.
Residents will also vote for up to four Constables. The candidates are Democrats William M. Boyd and Laura Markis Johnson and Republicans Richard “Dick” Brown, Frank A. Bevacqua, Carol G. Cabral and Edward J. Scinto.
