Stratford Firefighter Deploys To North Carolina For Hurricane Relief

Stratford's assistant fire chief was deployed to North Carolina as part of the Fairfield County Hazmat Communication Team, officials said.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Assistant Fire Chief Michael Camperlengo was deployed to North Carolina on Friday as part of the Fairfield County Hazmat Communication Team to assist with the recovery from Hurricane Helene, according to officials.

“Camperlengo is the Stratford Fire project manager for radio communications within the Department and also part of the State of Connecticut Incident Management Team, specializing in large scale incident management operations,” according to a news release from Stratford Fire Chief Jermaine B. Atkinson. “He is being deployed directly due to his specialized training in this field.

“This team was specially called to assist with communication coordination in areas hard hit by Hurricane Helene. They will support daily operations with the specialized resources of radio communications, and provide communication support to area First Responders recovering from the area-wide damage. This team is comprised of Public Safety agencies from Stratford, Norwalk, and Westport.

“The Stratford Fire Department wishes the team safe travels on this deployment, and extends our complete support to the residents of North Carolina affected by this weather event.”
