Stratford Man Accused Of Bringing Gun To New Canaan School Where Church Was Meeting: Police

Police said a Stratford man is accused of bringing a gun to a New Canaan school where a church was meeting over the weekend.

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man accused of bringing a gun to a New Canaan school where a church was meeting was arrested Sunday morning, according to New Canaan police.

In an arrest log, police said officers were working security at New Canaan High School, where Grace Church was meeting, around 9:30 a.m. when a church representative reported a person they believed was acting suspicious and possibly carrying a firearm.

The representative pointed out the man to officers, who identified him as Corey Lee Parowski, 48, of Stratford, according to police.

As Parowski entered the building, officers noticed a bulge in the small of his back underneath his shirt. Officers spoke with Parowski, who admitted to carrying a firearm, police said.

Parowski was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds.

He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to police.

According to the Grace Church website, the church meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. at New Canaan High School for worship service.
