The following is a press release from the police department.
We are having the Grand Reopening this Saturday, June 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Basically, it’s going to be a satellite office for the PD. It has been recently renovated.
No one will be “assigned” to it. The officers who work on patrol in the area will be encouraged to use it as often as possible.
It will have a computer and other equipment so the officers can meet with citizens, do reports and access our records system for follow-up investigations.
Technically the substation at 98 Gregory Circle was never closed as some officers did still have access to it. But it really hasn’t been operational in at least 4-5 years.
With the reopening we hope to foster better lines of communication with the community, especially residents in the immediate area of the substation.
We plan to periodically hold patrol roll calls at the substation. I will also have some “Chiefs hours” there.
I must note that this reopening would not be possible without our partnership with the Stratford Housing Authority, who not only donate the space to us, but also took care of most of the renovations.
There has been great support for the reopening from the Mayor Harkins and his office as well as Second District Councilwoman Philips. Both are co-sponsors of the event on Saturday along with Stratford’s Citizens Addressing Racial Equity (C.A.R.E), the Housing Authority, and The Milford Bank.
