Stratford Seeks Living WWII Veterans To Be Honored At State Ceremony

The town is looking for living World War II veterans so they can be honored at a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the war

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford is seeking living World War II veterans residing in town so they can be honored for their service at a commemorative ceremony in May.

The Office of the Lt. Governor, in partnership with Connecticut Veterans Affairs Commissioner Ron Welch and Major General Francis Evon of the Connecticut National Guard, is coordinating a ceremony to recognize all living World War II veterans in the state.

The ceremony will take place on Monday, May 19, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Governor William A. O’Neill State Armory.

“The Town is working to identify and contact Stratford's World War II Veterans to ensure they are included in this recognition ceremony,” Mayor Laura Hoydick wrote in a post on Facebook. “The Town is coordinating the Stratford attendance list in addition to transportation for our veterans.
