Town of Stratford And WPCA Consider Splitting Up
The same ten members serve on both panels, but some question whether that makes sense.

STRATFORD, CT—The future of the relationship between the Town of Stratford and the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) will be discussed when the WPCA board meets on Oct. 18.
At present the 10-member Town Council also serves as the WPCA Board of Directors, but some members say there may be advantages to having two distinct panels.
In an article in the Connecticut Post, Beth Daponte, Town Council chairwoman questioned the way WPCA vacancies are currently being filled. The mayor’s office and Town Council currently hire personnel for the sewage treatment plant, but Daponte wondered whether the WPCA should be able to hire its own personnel. The WPCA is currently seeking a plant superintendent.
