Hey Suffield! Check out these weekend activities including a hike in Windsor local and national band performances and Winterfest in Stafford Springs.

It’s Thursday and Suffield Patch has its third installment of the Get Out Weekend Planner. Check out these upcoming events and find something fun to do this weekend.

1. APPALACHIAN CLUB HIKE

Where/When: Northwest Park in Windsor; Sunday, 9:45 a.m.

Why Go: This 6.5 mile hike through through the forest and along the Connecticut River will move at a leisurely pace, taking about three hours total. Take advantage of the clear, mild weather this weekend and enjoy the outdoors.

2. 14TH ANNUAL NORTHEAST FISHING & HUNTING SHOW

Where/When: Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford; Friday through Sunday, times vary.

Why Go: Hundreds of vendors from throughout the area will be selling the latest hunting and fishing gear. More than 65 hours of seminars will be conducted, including some at the event's casting pond and fly tying center.

Pricing: Adults pay $10, children between age 6 and age 12 pay $2 and children under age 6 are free. Cash only.

3. RASCAL FLATTS LIVE

Where/When: Mohegan Sun in Uncasville; Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: The country music trio will perform new songs from their recent release Nothing Like This as well as old favorites. Get there early to eat dinner at one of the casino's many restaurants or shop and stay afterward to try your luck at the tables.

Pricing: Tickets cost between $85 and $115.

4. THE KENNEDYS AT NORTHWEST PARK

Where/When: Northwest Park in Windsor; Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Hear The Kennedys play songs from nine albums worth of original material in their acoustic rock/folk/pop style. Enjoy complimentary gourmet coffee from The Beanery and homemade baked goods from the Friends of Northwest Park.

Pricing: Members pay $13 and non-members pay $15.

5. WINTERFEST

Where/When: Sun Valley Beach Resort in Stafford Springs; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Ice fishing (with prizes), arts and crafts vendors, ice skating (bring your own), a bonfire, snowmobile rides, local food and more are available at Winterfest, which supports Channel 3 Kid's Camp.

Pricing: Entry is free. Ice fishing costs $20 for adults and $10 for children. Ice skating costs $2. General admission is free but donations are encouraged.
