Suffield Inn Opening this Week
New proprietor Miguel Mendoza will run the popular spot in the center of Suffield.

The Suffield Inn will be open this week, according to new proprietor Miguel Mendoza.
“This is going to happen,” he said, noting that the restaurant business is tough sometimes but the Inn will be open for business soon.
Mendoza has a soft opening planned for early this week, with a grand opening to follow soon afterward. He said he doesn’t have a date set for the big event yet, but he said it will be soon and he wants the exact time to be a surprise.

Progress has been made at the restaurant, with a “now hiring” sign on the front of the building already taken down as positions have been filled. Items like silverware and napkins have been delivered to the restaurant.
“We’ve got enough people,” Mendoza said.

Mendoza is the head chef at the Country Diner in Enfield and has 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. He will work at both restaurants, at least as the Suffield Inn gets off the ground.
He said he chose Suffield because he likes the area and lives nearby.
“It’s a community, everybody knows everybody,” Mendoza said. “I like the people.”
The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu featuring a mix of American, Italian and Mexican food. He said the food will be quality.
“Everything’s going to be homemade,” Mendoza said.
The restaurant will also have a bar and banquet facilities.
Mendoza said he has been looking to get into the restaurant business and the former Suffield Tavern presented a good opportunity.
“I’ve been looking for a place for a long time,” he said.
So far, community support in Suffield has been good for the new restaurant.
“Everybody’s happy to see me here,” he said. “I’m here for you guys.”
