3 Primary Power Lines Fall in Haddam

The Haddam Vol. Fire Co. responded to the intersection of Saybrook Road and Camp Bethel Road, after three primary power lines fell.

On Sunday, May 8, three primary power lines fell near the intersection of Saybrook Road and Camp Bethel Road in Haddam.

From 4 to 7 p.m., the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company blocked and rerouted traffic in this area until Eversource was able to deem the area safe.

About 50 residents in Haddam were without power during this time.

"Contact with a primary conductors, which can carry anything between 4,800 to 23,000 volts of electricity, can kill a person immediately," Haddam firefighters said.
