'9 Town Transit' Will Pursue Reposting Signs on Haddam's Rt. 154

After a complaint of a resident prompted the town of Haddam to remove signs along Rt. 154, '9 Town Transit' says it will be pursuing the appropriate permits to get their signs reposted on the main road.

Following the complaint of a resident, the town of Haddam removed '9 Town Transit' signs along Rt. 154 since the Transit program had not obtained the appropriate permits. At a recent Board of Selectman meeting, First Selectman Paul Destefano stated that 9 Town Transit will be pursuing permits to get their signs reposted on Rt. 81.

"I have talked to those at the Town Transit program, and they are going to move forward with pursuing permits with the DOT," Destefano said at the August 28 meeting. "They are going to examine where some safe places are so they can post signs down Route 154. The signs won't necessarily be marking collection locations, but their presence will help let residents know about the service."

The Board of Selectman stated at an earlier meeting in August when it was announced that the signs were removed, that they planned to support the Transit service in the process of obtaining permits to post signs, saying that "it is a service to our citizens."
