After 31 years, Pilot Richard Magner flew his last shift for Connecticut's Life Star program.

The East Haddam Fire Department expressed gratitude to Life Star Pilot Richard Magner, for his dedicated service. Firefighters wrote:

Today is a very big day for an incredible, well-respected person. After 31 years, Pilot Richard Magner "Rocky 1" flew his last shift for the Life Star program.

Rich would assist us during our most dire times, day and night, when the services of Life Star was requested. Once on the ground at the landing zone, the Life Star crew would jump out.

Now let it be known, Life Star has the best pilots, but seeing Rich on scene was a very reassuring feeling. We all knew that the patient, crew and helicopter were in the best of hands.

Rich, the EHFD would like to thank you for all of your service; Your service to our great country as a Cobra attack helicopter pilot in Vietnam and your Life Star service! Enjoy retirement!
