East Haddam Man Wins Regional Tourism District's First Ever Fall Photo Contest

Carl Bushmann won the contest for his picture of Gillette Castle.

An East Haddam, Conn. resident who spent a beautiful fall day taking photos for miles along the Connecticut River is the winner of Central Regional Tourism District’s/CenterofCT.com’s first-ever Fall photo contest. Carl Buschmann’s photo of Gillette Castle in East Haddam was one of more than 150 images entered in the β€œFall in CT” Pinterest competition.

β€œCarl Buschmann’s aerial photograph of historic Gillette Castle, nestled amidst colorful Fall foliage, is a spectacular representation of what makes Connecticut’s River Valley a very popular site for visitors and local residents alike,” explains Anne Orsene, Executive Director of the Central Regional Tourism District. β€œA pharmaceutical sales director, Carl told us he spent a beautiful Fall day aboard a friend’s plane, taking more than 2,000 photos from East Haddam to Old Saybrook – just for the pleasure of it! This was one of his favorite images.”

As the contest’s first place winner, Buschmann’s photo and name will be highlighted in the Central Regional Tourism District’s glossy print β€œ2014 Greater Hartford & Connecticut’s River Valley Visitors Guide” and it will be posted on-line atΒ CenterofCT.com. His winning image also will be posted on the Tourism District’s social media sites.

β€œThe Central Regional Tourism District created this contest because Connecticut offers countless Fall photo opportunities with so many appealing sites and events,” adds Orsene. β€œTo enter, photographers – of any skill –  went on line and pinned one or more photos onΒ Pinterest(www.pinterest.com), where all entries can be viewed using the hashtag #FallinCT.”
