Haddam Meth Lab Cleaned Up; Police Probe Ongoing: Officials

State police are continuing to investigate after the incident on Staba Drive, police said.

HADDAM, CT β€” The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration confirmed Tuesday it assisted with the clean up of a local methamphetamine lab over the weekend.

The Connecticut State Police is the lead agency for the investigation. On Tuesday, state police said the investigation is β€œactive and ongoing,” and declined to comment further.

Methamphetamine as a highly addictive synthetic stimulant, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The production process can be dangerous, with the risk of fire, explosions, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

On Sunday, police said they responded to a β€œsuspicious incident” on Staba Drive, a cul-de-sac off Brault Hill Road in the Higganum section of town.

Environmental Services Inc., a South Windsor-based private environmental services company, said on its Facebook page its hazardous materials team assisted with the clean-up also.

Haddam First Selectman Robert McGarry told WTNH one person was injured and drove to Middlesex Hospital before the arrival of first responders.
