Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Offered October 19
The Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department is offering this excursion to Rhode Island that will feature over 5,000 Illuminated Pumpkins and numerous destinations.

The Haddam-Killingworth is offering a trip to Providence, Rhode Island for a very special fall event on Saturday, October 19th.Β The fee is $107 per person / $99 for 12 and under.Β There is a $5 per person discount if you register by September 20th.Β The bus departs from HK HS at 10:00 am and from Killingworth Elementary at 10:15 am.Β Approximate return time is 9:15/9:30 pm.
First, tour the John Brown House, a three-story Georgian mansion which celebrates many aspects of Rhode Island's heritage. John Brown was one of the state's most notable citizens and a prominent merchant in the China trade. Today the home has an important collection of American colonial furniture and is home to the Rhode Island Historical Society. After touring the house, lunch will be at Cassarino's Ristorante, located on Historic Federal Hill. Enjoy a choice of Chicken Parmigiana, Baked Scrod or Pasta Primavera served complete with all the trimmings.
After lunch, there will be time to explore the galleries and many boutiques, bakeries and food emporiums located on the historic hill. As darkness falls on Providence, the next stop will be to the Roger Williams Park Zoo for the Jack-o'-lantern Spectacular. This special event features over 5000 illuminated pumpkins. There is a specially designed pumpkin path where you will see an amazing assortment of intricately designed jack-o'-lantern ranging from endangered species to past presidents to scenes of Sleepy Hollow. 150,000 pounds of pumpkins will be brought to life with ornate carvings, special lighting effects and musical themes. You won't want to miss out on this truly spectacular event!Β
