Killingworth Firefighter Returns Home after Battling Wildfires in Quebec
Thomas Bourret, a Killingworth firefighter, was one of the 19-member crew that left Connecticut on July 20 to head to northern Quebec, where they fought a 30,000 acre wildfire.

According to a press release from Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), members of CT's fire crew are returning home today, Wednesday, July 31, after battling wildfires in Quebec. The DEEP states the crew has a planned arrival time of 7 PM at Eastern District Headquarters, 209 Hebron Road, Marlborough.
The 19-member crew that was made up of 9 DEEP employees and 10 private-sector firefighters, included Killingworth firefighter Thomas Bourret.
Bourret, along with the other crew members, left Connecticut on July 20 and were sent to northern Quebec where they were fighting a 30,000 acre wildfire located in the far eastern side of the Province near Baie-Comeau, Quebec.

According to the release, "The crew assisted Canada under the auspices of the Northeast Forest Fire Compact. The Compact is a mutual aid agreement between several northeastern states and Eastern Canadian Provinces."
Members of Connecticut's crew received excellent reviews from the Northeast Forest Fire Compact, the release stated.
