- The Essex Winter Series (EWS) in nearby Essex was chosen for multiple grants for 2023. Donors include the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Office of the Arts, and Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund. EWS brings classical and jazz performances to Connecticut during the winter months and are already finalizing preparations for the 2024 season. - The 2023 Haddam Volunteer Fire Company (HVFC) Auxiliary scholarship winner is Ryan Wiese. He is a recent Haddam-Killingworth High School graduate and has received $750 toward his study of Agricultural Science at SUNY in Morrisville. He is currently involved as a member of the HVFC Junior Fire Department and is the grandson of Howard Wiese, a long-time fireman and former fire chief of HVFC. (hk-now.com)
- Attention local musicians: The Oddfellows Playhouse is looking for volunteers to play woodwinds, brass, and other instruments for the Childrenβs Circus of Middletown. The band invites both adults and students to perform and is directed by Joseph Getter. The performance will be Aug. 4, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. with a rain date of Aug. 5.
