Obituary: Martin "Midge" Kuchyt, 85, of Higganum
Prior to his retirement, Kuchyt was employed with the State of Connecticut DOT and then later Regional District 17.

Martin A. βMidgeβ Kuchyt, 85, beloved husband of 59 years of Eleanor βTerryβ (Adams) Kuchyt passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015.

He was born in Higganum, the son of the late Anthony and Anna (Traskos) Kuchyt. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with the State of Connecticut DOT and then later Regional District 17. Martin was drafted into the Korean Conflict as a member of the 820th Engineer Aviation Battalion (1951-1952). He loved playing sports- starting as βbat boyβ then becoming a catcher for the βHigganum Higgiesβ baseball team, bowling for the St. Peterβs Bowling League and playing horseshoes with the local residents in town. He was a devoted member of St. Peterβs Church and a Life Member of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Scott Kuchyt and his wife Robin, his son Jamie and his wife Teresa, his grandchildren, Mike and his wife Charity, Kyle and Martin. He leaves behind his sisters, Rose Driscoll, Mary Jean Krajewski, Helen Marica and her husband Rudy, Patricia Budney and her husband Eugene and sister-in-law Mar-Jean Kuchyt, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Schroeder and brother, Robert Kuchyt.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday (Nov. 28th) at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Church, Maple Ave., Higganum. Burial with military honors will be in Burr District Cemetery, Higganum.
Friends may call at St. Peter Church, Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the Liturgy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 194, Higganum, CT 06441 or Haddam Veterans Museum, c/o Rick Annino, 671 Little City Road, Higganum, CT 06441.
