Teen Missing After Jumping Into Connecticut River In Haddam

The 17-year-old was not wearing a lifejacket at the time he jumped in.

HADDAM, CT β€” Authorities are searching for a swimmer who went missing in the Connecticut River in Haddam Sunday.

Connecticut State Police are assisting DEEP with the search and the Coast Guard has also been notified.

In a news release, the Coast Guard said the missing swimmer is a 17-year-old boy. The teen jumped into the water after another person he was with struggled to get to the shore. Authorities said the teen did not resurface.

He was not wearing a lifejacket at the time he jumped in.

Connecticut State Police Trooper One helicopter and Connecticut State Police dive team were also requested at Haddam Meadows Boat Launch, State Police said.

The Coast Guard is asking anyone with information to call 203-468-4401.
