  1. Police are investigating two connected Middletown shootings. The first involved a drive-by shooting at 8:40 p.m., targeting a pedestrian, on the 140 block of Woodbury Circle on Thursday. The victim reportedly fled and was not hurt. The second shooting happened on Friday before 3:25 p.m. on Inverness Lane when a vehicle drove up to a home and fired shots at the residence. No one was injured. (Eyewitness News 3)
  2. With a 6-3 vote this week, Erica Forti's contract as superintendent of schools has been extended for a year, and she will also receive a pay increase. Forti has been the Superintendent of the East Haven district since 2017. Connecticut Superintendent contracts are limited to three years, but school boards have the option to extend contracts annually or offer a new three-year contract. (New Haven Register)
  3. A 17-year-old Wallingford teenager was arrested Friday for possession of drugs and a tan BB gun resembling a Glock. Police received several reports of a male placing a gun in a backpack, which the teen tried to dispose of. Authorities found the backpack, which contained a BB gun, Xanax, Psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, a digital scale, baggies, Hennessy, Tito's vodka, and a Nyquil bottle. The teen is to appear in court on Jul. 6 and is being charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and possession with intent to sell a controlled substance. (WTNH.com)

  • The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) started a new incentive program that allows New Haven residents the opportunity to apply for $1500 state-subsidized electric bike vouchers, with $500 for Connecticut residents and an additional $1000 for Environmental Justice communities, starting June 28.
