Which Road in The Haddams-Killingworth Needs a Speed Bump?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

THE HADDAMS-KILLINGWORTH, CT - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.
While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including The Haddams-Killingworth. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

- "Pokorny Rd. could use several."
- "Chittenden Rd! I don't know if people use this road for a cut through or what but I almost had my car taken out twice last week as they speed around the blind bend half on my side of the road. Speed limit is 25, 30 is acceptable but not 50. A child is going to get hurt one of these days, lots of new families with small children have recently moved in."
- "People use Chittenden as a cut through. For my kids and others on that road, I have to stand in the middle to make people slow down so kids can ride their bikes. They still will speed past us when I'm out there."
- "Route 81 near the library and ball field. No one drives anywhere near the posted 35 mph..."
- "Walkley Hill, on both downhill ends to stop people speeding as they cut Rt 154."
- "Beaver Meadow, please!"
- "We need a traffic light on Rt 80 at Chestnut Hill Road. Also leaving the middle school on rt 81."
- "All of them!"
- "Every 20 feet on 81."
