Car Break-Ins Spike Again in East Lyme
East Lyme Police advise everyone to lock their vehicles.

There are yet more reports of vehicles being broken into in East Lyme. East Lyme Police Sgt. Joe San Juan said thieves stole items from about 15 to 20 vehicles late Wednesday night.
While had been concentrated in the areas of Crescent Beach, Black Point, and Main Street, this week's rash of burglaries happened on Laurel Hill Drive and Damon Heights Road, off Route 161 between Society Road and Flanders four corners.

As was the case with previous reports of car burglaries in town, thieves don't have to make much effort because most people around here don't lock their vehicles, particularly when those vehicles are parked in their own driveway.
In light of these recent break-ins, however, the East Lyme Police Department is once again urging people to lock their vehicles and asking that people report break-ins and any suspicious activity they see as soon as they see it. As Sgt. San Juan noted, police stand a much better chance of catching these criminals if they're not being called to a scene hours after the fact.
