Everything—And The Kitchen Sink—Is Available At Old Lyme's White Elephant Sale

The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme's annual charity fundraising sale is billed as the largest of its kind in the region.

If you've ever seen the charging of the bulls, then you have some idea of what happens when the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme's clock strikes nine on the first morning of the annual White Elephant Sale.

After collecting donations for two weeks, then organizing, sorting, washing, and pricing them, the nearly 200 volunteers had to jump out of the way to avoid being trampled by early bird bargain hunters on Friday morning.

The sale includes everything under the sun, from furniture to foosball tables to fish tanks. You'll find silver platters and porcelain dolls, clothes for everyone in the family, blankets and hand made quilts, Kayaks and bikes. There's even a room for Haitian art because the church does a lot of charity work in the Caribbean country.

If you missed it on Friday, you've got a second chance Saturday. The sale starts at 8 a.m. and ends at noon. Most of the items pictured here will be available and all the proceeds go to charity.

The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme is located at 2 Ferry Road in Old Lyme. You'll find more information about the sale on the church's website.
