Expect to Be Diverted By The Niantic Bay Triathlon
The swimming, biking, and road racing event will be held Aug. 5 in Niantic, so there will be some traffic issues.

The Niantic Bay Triathlon is not for the weak of heart, especially in this heat. The event starts at 7:30 a.m. from McCook Point Park and kicks off with a half-mile swim from point to point in Niantic Bay. The race continues with a 12-mile bike ride along the shoreline and finishes with a 3.5 mile run.
The event is scheduled to end at 9:30 a.m., so you can expect some traffic delays and detours throughout East Lyme on Sunday morning.
