The 3 p.m. presentation on bats and the current threat to their survival from a disease called White Nose Syndrome will be made by Gerri Griswold (a.k.a. “The Bat Lady”).

Bats have occupied our planet for 50 million years, yet we have only seriously studied them over the last six decades. Assisted by her charming bat, Bugsy, Griswold will explore the biology, ecology, sonar, cultural highs, and threats to these extraordinary creatures.

Over the years. Griswold and her bats have presented hundreds of programs to libraries, schools, and other community organizations, such as the Peabody Museum. She's even been featured on a segment about bats for The Late Show with David Letterman.

The program will be held upstairs in the beautiful new barn of Emily and Jason Bjornberg at 59 Brush Hill Road, Lyme. Please bring your own lawn chair and stay after the program for hot dogs and refreshments but, please, leave the dogs at home!
