Historic Niantic Building Sold To Developer, Will Be Preserved
The Morton House, which has been in operation for over a century, was sold recently to a developer who said he has no plans to demolish it.

EAST LYME, CT — The historic Morton House in Niantic has sold for $3.2 million, according to The Hartford Business Journal.
The 215 Main St. structure was built in 1868 and has been in operation for more than a century, according to Historic Buildings of Connecticut. The building currently has weekly and monthly room rentals.
The historic structure is referred to as "a monument in the quaint seaside village of Niantic," according to Morton House's Facebook page.

The property was purchased by East Lyme resident and local developer David Preka's limited liability company.
Preka, who is developing three nearby properties, told The Day of New London that he has no plans to demolish the historic building.

About 45 people live in the building. Preka said he has no intention of moving anyone in the building. His plans include replacing the roof, windows, and siding along with interior renovations, according to The Day.
