The Lymes Residents Sound Off on Safety Issues

We asked Patch readers to share their biggest safety concerns in The Lymes. Here's what they'd change.

The Lymes, CT - Summer’s nearly here, and with each walk in the park, day at the pool and backyard BBQ comes the risk of snakebites, drowning and fires, but don’t worry! There’s no reason to stay cooped up inside all season.

Patch put together a list of summer safety tips to keep you safe and having fun while the weather’s warm. Make sure to give snakes their distance and always swim with a buddy to stay carefree during the dog days.

Keeping these tips in mind, there are other possible dangers that affect residents of The Lymes year round.

We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "In the summer, people not obeying traffic laws."
  • "Summer traffic on I-95."
  • "Moms in mini-vans racing down Riverview Road on their way to school. They drive fast, they talk on their phones, and they drive too fast!"
  • "95 North Between Baldwin and Gold Star Bridge."
  • "I-395 split from I-95. Or, as I like to call it, my daily brush with death."
  • "I-95 from exit 70 to 72. I think the last several weeks prove it, sadly."
  • "Speeding and distracted drivers."
  • "Summer people coming off I-95. And I-95 for that matter."
