Mandatory Evacuation Ordered for East Lyme Due to Hurricane Sandy

All residents living within 200 feet of any tidal body of water must evacuate no later than 11 a.m. Monday.

The Town of East Lyme is in a State of Emergency due to the anticipated weather event generated by Hurricane Sandy.  

The Unified Command under the direction of First Selectman Paul M. Formica has ordered the mandatory evacuation of all coastal low lying areas. The town is requesting everyone's cooperation in evacuating all of the residences within 200 feet of any tidal body of water no later than 11 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012.  

People who choose to shelter in place must be aware that emergency services may not be able to reach them in the event of an emergency. East Lyme residents are asked to please monitor Channel 22 or go to eltownhall.com for further information and instructions.

The East Lyme Middle School is the Red Cross emergency shelter for the region. It is also a shelter for pets.
